People pretend to be a lot of things that they are not (rich, educated, famous) to try to impress other people.
Also, the FEELING of not knowing the answer (being dumb) or basically not being enough, not being enough is so painful that most people will deny it and pretend that they do know. It usually stems from being made to feel or look stupid as a child

Here's an even better one: Why do people pretend that they are dumb when they are smart?
I guess people think the answer to all their problems has to lie in whatever they don't have.

We can't all pretend to be dumb like Jessica Simpson!
And the first guy was right in correcting the formation of your question. In the rest of your sentences, your grammar is horrible as well!

Why do people post questions about other peoples intelligence when it could be questionable how intelligent or not you are, just by seeing your grammar throughout the whole question. It get a bit irritating??? cant follow simple instruction??

No one wants to be thought of as stupid, it is not an esteemed quality in society. Maybe by being patient and showing him things step by step he will develop confidence and become more competent, he probably feels a bit inferior. See this as a challenge to help another human being reach their potential.

Perhaps you need to move on to other things more constructive and challenging for you. Why remain in mud when you could be making much more progress on firm ground!

Leave him be...
Please don't tell me he's "socially unacceptable."
I believe anyone that "knocks" a person for trying has lower status in society than the supposed "dumb" person.
Don't worry about what to do, unless you're willing to be nicer about him.

I thought about this, and honestly cannot remember a person of limited intellegence being able to fake being intellegent.
Leave him be, he will out himself.

I just love how you're calling someone else stupid when you can't even write a grammatically correct sentence.

Why does it bother you so much? Are you his boss or something?
Ignore him. Eventually, you'll get used to him.
