It's transferred through body contact - Best if you talk to a school nurse.

Ringworm is a skin fungus and lives in or on the keratin of the skin, or outer layer. It lives in heated and moisture conditions. Children contract it by walking barefoot outside and some in the folds of the skin. I haven't heard of it being transferred to others, but it would be a good idea not to share unwashed hairbrushes, combs, socks, etc if possible.
Children need to get into the practice of good handwashing when appropriate.

You may get the ringworm from skin to skin contact or from indirect contact. It is a fungus and is easy to treat with an over the counter anti-fungal cream.

The student needs to keep a bandaid over it and put Lotramin on it. Lotramin is over the counter and only about 5 bucks. My 3 year old got it from daycare not too long ago and his doctor gave us those instructions. It can be passed if you touch it, thats why it needs to be covered. It takes about 4 weeks to completely heal.

Very contagious!!!! Get some meds for it at the drug store or from your Dr. and limit direct contact and that means don't touch it yourself.

Body contact, and VERY catchy! My son is in wrestling, and if one gets it, several do. Use tinactin foot spray on it...works faster and better than anything else!

by touching that person, wearing their clothes, taking a shower after they did and the tub wasnt cleaned out. they shouldnt be in school if they have it in the first place since they can give it to everyone. they need to be home until its gone.
