A troll is a person who asks inflamatory questions JUST to elicit a response.

IE: "Why are women inferior to men?" is trollish
"Does the bible teach women are inferior to men?" not trollish.

I've never seen you be trollish.

You're about as far removed from being a troll as anyone could be.

Logistically, anytime we ask something off-topic we could be considered as trolls. Think Avatard and the WSIDR. They would be classed as funny, delightful trolls who harm no one and relieve the tension. Most everyone here loves them. I personally feel it's wrong to classify them as such, but Yahoo! does and that's why they keep getting deleted.

People who ask questions and make statements intending to upset the reader are the true definition of a troll. There are also those who spam (flood) the forum with repeated nonsense, or links to their own websites, adds, etc.

Thumb trolls repeatedly give a TD to everyone, or those whom they have targeted for some reason. Other trolls have a trigger finger and hit that report button a dozen times a day. Still others will send you mail accusing you of being a troll.

***Case in point. The answers to your question have been hit by a thumb troll.

I ask a lot of questions. I have learned more than I could have ever dreamed of in any other venue. If I am a troll, thank you!!! I find it a compliment!!
My questions are meant for my wisdom. I greatly appreciate the wisdom I have gained from All of you. Atheist, deist, agnostic and Pagan you have added to my knowledge base . Even the "nasties" have contributed to my understanding of humanity. We All have a purpose to serve. I hope I have not offended anyone with my questions, that is never my intention.

Namaste

Peace and Love

I'm not really sure. I don't ask many questions, then only if I see a "gang up" happening, or if another questioners question has inflamed me enough. Then I am usually called a troll. Just say, thankyou, its better than some of the other names I've been called. (The worse ones are usually via email.) You can be sure you've hit a nerve somewhere, its not nessicarily a bad thing, though you have to pay for it. They always try to "shoot" the whistle blower to shut them up.

Trolls ask provocative questions - not to get an answer, but just to provoke. The questions usually have a unprovable statement issued as fact. Then, just to cause more trouble, trolls will sometime report anyone who disagrees with their question.

Troll are not limited to any particular group (theists have as many trolls as non-theists).

I don't think you count as a troll.

Your e-mail comment shows that you've annoyed someone who doesn't like to be annoyed.

Usually it means that you've been asking questions that get people riled up on purpose. It can also mean that you are asking the same questions in order to stir up trouble.
