tuberculosis is an infection by the bacteria "mycobaterium tuberculous". most people think that tuberculosis is a lung infection. though it is commonly found as lung infections, tuberculosis infection can happen in any part of your body i.e kidney, spine, joints, bones, muscles.
as the lung infection, pulmunary tuberculosis, it is easily transmitted airborne and thus is spread easily to others. when infected by pulmunary tuberculosis, one will require prolonged antibiotic treatment, lasting for at least 6 months and at times as long as 18 months. a combination of 4 drugs are the standard regime of treatment.
other areas of tuberculosis are rarer and are most commonly seen in patients with an impaired immune system, such as those with AIDS, though not necessarily so.
