My kids... I'd die for them if there was tangible benefit (like if their lives would somehow be spared).
And if my country was invaded, I'd consider re-signing up.

Strangely, it's somehow age connected for me. When I was a young man there were very few things I would have died for. As I grow old I find that there a a good many causes I'd give my life for. If I could sacrifice the years that I have remaining to benefit people with long lives ahead of them, I'd gladly do so. What's a few years to me if my death could greatly help (or relieve the suffering of) a younger generation?

There are many causes worth dying for, because there are many things in life that, if taken away, would make life no better than death.
While I believe I could do more good working here on earth, if death was the only choice, I would die to preserve many of even the most basic freedoms. I would die to preserve life for others.

If I had any children....and one of their lives depended on my sacrificing my own (such as donating a vital organ,) then I would be okay with dying. I seriously can't think of any other times I'd be willing to die for a cause. I'm not effectively supporting the cause if I'm dead.

I would die for my family. I would also die for the Truth. If someone wants to crucify me for telling the Truth - I'm game.

Like Jesus, I would die so people wouldn't need to make animal sacrifices anymore... even if war, famine, and drought continued.
At least people wouldn't need to make blood sacrifices to God anymore.

If the situation were extremely desperate I would consider dying for political liberty. If I had a family I would die for them if it became necessary.

How many things do you risk your life for? Driving to work, eating fast food, riding a bike... I would obviously die for anything that I COULD die doing.

Jewish people didn't "volunteer to go into the showers."
Many did hide the fact that they were Jewish...if they could. However a lot of them couldn't.
I think your question is racist, and narrow minded.
And I am an atheists.

I'm not an atheist, so I guess I don't qualify to answer that one. However, I'd say you got several good answers. Have a very nice day!
