Ok, so heres my serious question on why people are against gay marriage,

some are against gays getting married cause of the Bible, and they reference lots of verses like Leviticus 18:22, and Romans 1 and 1 Corinthians 6:9 and even Genesis where God punishes Sodom and Gomorah,

ok, we get it, the Christian god doesn't like the act of gay sex,

ok, so heres my question, which chapter and verse in the Bible does it say gay people can't get married,

and here is why I ask, cause god doesn't approve of atheism either,

but there aren't any Christians protesting atheists getting married? Clearly no Bible verse says an atheist can't get married.

I'm an atheist I married a woman. God disapproves of my atheism.

Why no protest of my marriage?

---

When will people admit they don't like gay marriage cause they are homophobic?

---

There, theres my serious question for the day.

It's a fair point. To deliberately misquote George Orwell:

"All sins are equal, but some sins are more equal than others".

God's Law concerning sex is very specific, and outlines what is and what is not appropriate for sexual conduct. As you stated, God is against homosexuality. Naturally, if two gay people get married, that marriage is propagating something directly against God's word, and that would be homosexuality.

Now let's look at atheism. You, as an atheist, marrying an atheist, are still an atheist regardless. Being married has not caused you to sin through that marriage. For that reason there is nothing wrong with your marriage, and to the contrary, your marriage is a good thing. Your atheism is a separate issue in this case, your marriage does not cause you further sin.

That is why gay marriages are an issue, they support and nurture a sin that is already a problem in a person's life. God hates sin because it destroys us. He hates homosexuality because it destroys the person it afflicts. I think the movie Brokeback Mountain is a good illustration of this. Look at what happened to the main characters because of their relationship. Their world fell apart.

I would think it rather silly to say that anyone who doesn't like gay marriage is homophobic, just as I believe it is silly to say that a person who doesn't like cats must be afraid of them.
I have a number of friends who are gay, I find no reason to be afraid of them. They know I'm not someone that they are going to have a homosexual relationship with, and they don't hit on me, and I'm not afraid that they will.

Well, I have three points to make. Oh BTW, you know this, but for others who may read, I am a fundamental Christian.

point 1 - I would wholeheartedly support being able to cover ANYONE you want to on your health insurance, whether they are married to you or not, whether they live with you or not. If I am paying the premiums, I ought to be able to cover my aunt sally, my mom six states away, and my next door neighbor if I chose.

point 2 - I would also support tax breaks for those individuals who have shared a domicile together for more than 5 years (some states call it "common law" marriage). Those people should not have to be married in order to file joint taxes together. This should include people like an elderly brother and sister who live together. They should get the same tax benefit because in truth their household income is combined.

point 3 - Homosexuals are constantly telling me to stay out of their bedroom life. Why then, do they ask me to poke my nose into their bedroom and cheer and applaud what they are doing? Why do they tell me I must *approve* of them? Why do they need my approval for anything? Why do they need me cheering them on?
I think if everyone would get behind points one and two above, the country would be a fairer place.

Matt: 9:4--6 Jesus stated, “that at the beginning the Creator ‘made them male and female,’ and said, ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh’? So they are no longer two, but one. Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate.” (Matt 19:4--6). It can not be denied that marriage has been ordained by God as holy union between one man and one woman for the purpose of sexual intimacy and the rearing of children since the beginning of time, but today we are plagued with a culture that has lost it’s moral compass and wants to sanction same sex marriage.

I'm still wondering why, to get government tax benefits you have to be married. A JP would tell you that marriage is not necessarily religious as there are non-religious ways to get married. Yet Christians still call marriage religious. Seems to me to be a poor separation of church and state...

seems to me like if you're a christian then you'd let people do what they want and let your god judge them. But that's only my very own personal concept of how christianity should work based on their ideas
