you could...but why?

if you want to join a foreign force...why not join the French Foreign Legion? You'll be surprised how many Americans/British join the foreign legion!

As a side note, I am not sure what some people are talking about "losing your citizenship".....I know of a fella who joined the French Foreign Legion and he didn't lose his US Citizenship....(in fact, after finishing 5 years of service he was able to hold duel citizenship...one for the US and one in France!). Not sure about Sweden though......but I would imagine it would be the same thing. You may need to go through the process of becoming a citizen first before enlisting the Swedish Army.....

Once you live there, and after a few years would get a Swedish passport, I'm sure you can also join the Swedish army then. I don't know why you would want that, but if you really want, i'm sure you can, in the end.

Anyone who serreves in a foriegn Military is supposed to be stripped of thier citizenship. As I recall, the Flying Tigers who signed on with China to fight the Japanese had thier citizenship taken. it was restored after Pearl Harbor.

For my money anyone who votes in a foriegn election should also be stripped of thier citizenship. There should be no such thing as "Dual Citizenship" You can't swear allegience to two countries.
