I am a Christian. i like being a Christian.

I dont mind being ridiculed, or my faith being brought up all the time (actually i quite like it! I wasnt always a Christian, most my friends and my whole family are not Christians - their not "bad" people either their nice in their jesting).

Being an anti religion crusader for most my life, i know most of the questions to shut up religious freaks dead in their tracks. A brief look on how i became a Christian, i met a girl (she was a Christian), i liked her so i started going to church (oh dear), i met people and liked the way they lived their lives, free, happy, loving, friendships... it was awesome! But i was still no Christian, but i was looking into it!

When i looked into it i answered all my questions i used to use against people like i am now, and then some! My question isnt really a question its a thought, if i show you a flower you've never seen before and said it had no smell would you believe me? Or would to take a sniff?

yes I met a girl, and yes i went to church to check her out...but we we are just friends... she was an enigma to me, i wanted to know more and got more that i deserved!

She was the initial reason for going but not the reason i became a Christian... I was just looking at some of the replies and i can help thinking that those words have been handed down from their parents, friends, workmates. These words arent their own, all im asking is why cant people think for themselves, make their own choices for their own lives?

I get the same questions that have sprouted from a single seed. Then people go "So your a christian, how do you explain blah de blah?" I give them an intellectual answer that satisfies them. They still dont believe... if you have any questions feel free to email me lewismcgillivray@gmail.com and once ive answered every single one of your questions to your intellectual need, you have to promise that you'll just think about taking a look for yourself.

But see what you have here is a long bit about your past which is basically the story of Ruth--I saw a girl I thought she was hot and wanted to marry her. Nothing wrong with that--I'm not bashing you in the slightest. It's completely normal and happens every day.

I answer a lot of questions in the marriage/weddings section and I consider that very sweet and romantic. Everyone changes in a relationship--it's how we grow and mature. This is a change that ended up with you having friendships, a girlfriend and being happy. Congrats! However, only if you just do it once. I have a friend who changes religions each time he changes a girlfriend too and it's just sickening. He has been hard-core christian, then agnostic, then atheist, wiccan, a lil more emo than wiccan and rather frightening, just shy of devil worship, and now he is some odd mix of astral projection and astrology based faith. So I see why so many people think you are just saying you changed for a girl. You were a loner who enjoyed the friendships and dating of it--however you neglected to mention how that affected beliefs.

Perhaps you really tried it emotionally and christianity did answer the questions for you. In which case I am happy for you. Everyone should be blessed enough to be happy in their spiritual/religious beliefs. But if that were the case, you wouldn't try to push people towards christianity b/c after all you are not a single bachelor anymore. Your gf would not appreciate you converting people into christianity like that.

But then after the cute glimpse into your past and your romantic side (hey shut up atheists, i AM a girl and can be girlie if I want!!), you ask a question. Of course I would take a sniff b/c my nose is more sensitive than many peoples and when they say there is no smell, frequently I find them to be wrong. It's just a subtle scent. You could be right and it really has no scent. Then I sniff b/c I just want to agree with you and say we have something in common. You assume if they sniff the flower they are looking to fight? Is that how you were? I can't mindlessly believe someone without making sure and verifying. I even check my answers on a math test.

But there is no comparison here. Your assumption is that those that do not believe have never smelled the flower before. You said "a flower you've never seen before". What if I have seen the flower before and already know it's strong or has a lot of pollen? If you had talked to even just a handful of atheists, you would know that the majority of them started off christians and didn't like the smell of that garden. A lil too much potpourri, dead flowers sprayed with strong floral scent. Different people, different favorite flowers. As I said, I have a sensitive nose and what many people love to smell, is too strong and I am merely allergic to it. I prefer my flowers to smell fresh and clean, citrus--floral is just stiffling to me.

Sorry, I can't see this happening to me. As friendly and happy as those people might be, I'm not planning to sacrifice my intellectual integrity for anything. Believing in God won't change the fact that he probably doesn't exist, and in the end it won't help us improve the world as much as we could if we accepted the truth.

I believe in God, I am a Christian, and if he showed me a flower that had no smell, I would not take a sniff because I have faith in him.

You know, most go the other route. It is hard to find an atheist in the US who wasn't a Christian at some point. I am sure that it is nice to feel a part of something, but that doesn't constitute evidence.

You're absolutely right. This isn't a question.

So you became Christian to impress a girl. That's just super! With any luck, your next gf will be an atheist, and then you'll have an excuse for recovering your brains.

I know a few people who went on to become christians. I don't believe in that **** but if you can find something that gives you a set of morals to live by who cares if its muslim, christian, or atheism.

I personally have no clue as to how a person could intelligently become a christian. I would feel like I had suddenly lost my senses and my intelligence. I would feel like a puppet.
If you showed me a flower and said that it had no smell of course I would smell it for myself and see what I thought.
I am not a brainless follower of ignorance.

that is a bunch of B.S.

like to know why??

smelling a flower has nothing to do with a religion. Yeah i would smell the flower, but im jewish and would never even think of changing my religion.

Well, i would probably belive you, but I would have to take a sniff just out of curiosity! Most people would believe you, they would just like to have a little extra proof just out of their own curiosity!
