We were in one of those amazing moments. Alone under a waterfall of lights (Christmas lights). It was that instance that it should happen. He created it and followed through. We hadn't really discussed marriage but we both knew in our hearts we had found each other for life.

I felt it coming, and I was right. Even though that element of surprise was somewhat gone, it was still a magical moment.

If you think it is coming, don't ruin his big night, let it be a surprise. My husband still doesn't know to this day that I thought he was going to propose.

Yes. He left his credit card statement sitting around and he made a significant payment to a jewelry store. lol
Of course, when he actually did propose, it was just a random day and I was not prepared for it. It didn't ruin the surprise, really.

Not a clue. He just surprised me as we were driving to work one afternoon. after telling me about this dream of his, he just looked at me and popped the question.

Unfortunately, because he is younger than I, I was a bit concerned, and asked him are you sure/ He was, but i had hurt him, not jumping at the proposal, especially since i had been the one gung-ho about marriage.

I apologized profusely, realizing my error, and afraid I wouldn't get a repeat offer. But to my surprise at work on morning, he (my supervisor) just walks up and surprises me as he often did, smiling and said, so how about it? I didn't know what he was talking about, but he kept smiling until it hit me. I was so excited, I could hardly keep quiet in a virtually quiet room. But I did say yes.

Married 20+ and Making it a day at a time.
Have a star for bringing back such happy memories.

I was engaged two years ago, and I knew he was going to because he left suttle hints and he brought it up a lot. We aren't together anymore, only because I realized he wanted me as his "employee" instead of a wife. I gave the ring back of all days on New Year's Eve. That wasn't planned, but now I'm in a wonderful relationship!! We talk about things off and on now, but we're not ready yet =)

I knew at some point we would get married, and every time we went on a trip or there was a special occasion, I half expected that to be the moment. When the actual moment arrived, I was stunned!

Yes, we discussed marriage, our views on it etc for quite some time before we got engaged. It's important that you go into it with your eyes open as to what the other person expects.

yes, we have been talking about a wedding for over 2 years. i picked the ring out, every day i waited for the big questions. he said by late summer i got it early summer like i had expected. i knew he probably got sick of me asking for my ring on a daily basis.
