Bluto you're a douchebag. No one ever claimed ancient mythical "ninjitsu" surpasses modern espionage, that's something you included to vent out some retarded insecurity.

Anyway to answer the question, no. There's Bujinkan which teaches a lot of "ninja"-like techniques but it's really a combination of different martial arts. A better question would try too look into what modern Japanese espionage or special forces stealth techniques are like.

Some guy said that "nobody today" needs to defend themselves on a day to day basis. That is a fictional statement for you have people in the hood, in prison, and in third world countries constantly having to defend themselves. But I guess those individuals don't count...

You can't really accurately say how the ancient ninja's operated. There are so called experts, old scrolls, tales, and some fiction intertwined into it all. Ultimately, it doesnt really matter so much. But I've seen some so called "ninjas" in this day and age, and they were pretty good.

ok, to put it bluntly, normally I would insult you, answer your question then send you on your way for asking something so stupid, however I'm in a good mood today so I'll share this without the usual sarcastic comments.

1- ninjitsu doesn't exist, there is serious question as to whether it ever existed. It could be as people living in "clans" as specialized espionage experts, it could be that what is referred to as "ninja" is actually just samurai trained in espoinage and assasination techniques, or it simply could (the most likely scenario) fall under the banner of "gremlins" and "robin hood" where a name was attatched to certain actions (sabotage and banditry) and people used the "name" to strike fear into people.

2- people who claim to teach ninjitsu today are either outright frauds. teaching you nothing. teaching you something but using the fame of the term "ninja" in pop culture to sell thier style (also unscrupulous but still you learn something at least). Or one of the supposed "lineage" people that claim lineage, when that and its sources are highly questionable- as is thier training techniques. It is doubtfull that these are anything.

3- if you are looking to become the "mythical" ninja in a modern world, i suggest you look to the modern world counterparts for each of the skills ninja mythically posessed. I point out that those practicing the "arts" that make up the myth are far better at those skills than any mythical "ninja" ever could be.
I would suggest joining the CIA or the USMC sniper school. In lieu of that I guess you could always learn to become a private detective or hitman.

If you still think that any modern espionage expert or spy is not far far far superior to any feudal "ninja" then a trip to the international spy museum in washington D.C. is in order.

espionage, and even mythical ninjas were about the "gadgets" and technology - modern day or even a "spy" from the 1900's far surpasses this.

Depends on what skills you are referring to. Some of our present knowledge of Ninjutsu are taken from the movies which tend to exaggerate things a bit. Like flying and jumping up a 3 storey building and dodging bullets. Ninjutsu as I understand it uses the Art of Deception and Illusion in combat. It was a skill used by the ancient ninjas to spy on and assassinate their enemies. Stealth was their foremost weapon. I'm not familiar with the current experts. But if my memory serves me right, Stephen K. Hayes was one of the more well known american Ninjutsu expert who studied under Masaaki Hatsuumi in Japan.

Yes, and No. ancient ninjas were in life and death situations every day. Most modern practitioners are not. However, I do have a ninja friend that is in the U.S Army (special ops) and he most likely has had a more authentic experience and application of the arts.

No. Seeing as how ancient ninjas had to use their abilities to defend their lives on a day to day basis.

Nobody today, ninjas or otherwise, have to defend themselves on a day to day basis like that. Except soldiers in conflict areas ofcourse. But they don't use ninjitsu. lol

there is no way to truly tell. when a secret group kept their art a secret, there is no way to tell if the latest art is the same.

this is what the new instruction relies on, and can say what it likes as who can tell the difference.

like jesus, who can say what he did or didnt do. the church of today relies on teh fact that no one can prove it either way. that allows enough people to believe and support the money engine of religion.
