it's not going to be a huge amount that he can live off of for the rest of his life. yes, losing part of a finger really sucks, but it's not a life threatening injury and will not keep him from doing anything normally in life.

I hope your son is recovered from this accident. It is unfortunate when accidents happen.I think that your son was probably fortunate it wasn't his index finger or his thumb it would have been much worse..Did the doctors try to re-attach the finger? How do you know the equipment was faulty? If it was tested ,by whom? Is the equipment still in use? Was the class being properly supervised? Was my child following the correct safety procedures while using the equipment? Was my child paying attention to what he was doing or was he distracted? How did the school administration deal with this accident? These are questions I'd be asking as a concerned parent to prevent others from experiencing a similar accident. You make it sound like you're more concerned about a dollar sign.

that would depend on how tramatic it was to your child, how bad the equipemnt is, if the school knew this, and most of all HOW GOOD YOUR LAWYER IS. the better lawyer will get you the most money
I wouldnt think you'd get so much that you'd never have to work again. but a good chunck, it should go to his college education.
By the way how is your son doing with it, loosing a finger and all? Didn't see you say anythign about the welfair of your child, just money....Hope he's coping well, it has to be tramatic for a teen.

OMG, that's horrible! I'm so sorry! I'm not sure how much he could get for that, but I'm sure it'll be quite a bit. Just get a good lawyer. My cousin fell out a 3 story window at her apartment complex when she was little. She got enough $$ out of it to buy a new mustang convertible when she was older.

One thing to consider, if your lawyer is good, he'll also go after the people who made the equipment. Especially since it was faulty. Sorry to hear about his finger. I hope it heals well hun. Good luck.
