I've noticed that religion comes up quite frequently as a subject and I want to know, from your perspective, why you think this is the case?

Man seeks the ultimate truth that science simply can not provide.

Even religious people often find it hard to understand what thier own rligion is all about. So typically any subject that needs to be explored attracts interest. People, it seems, whether one admitts it or not, are inclined to be superstitious and religion speculates a lot about our fear of a possible beyond. On either side of the argument there is a nagging feeling that there may be some truth in these speculations that may concern us as individuals. Religion has had a great influence in the world since time immemorial. There is often a fine line between politics and religion as we are reminded in the news media every day - even in today's sofisticated world. Even in the affluent and increasingly agnostic western world, religion still exerts great influence and power over millions of people. It is a great hangup humanity has which it cannot get rid of. So if it is important to us and it is something we cannot get rid of, we must need it as a form of expression as human beings. In my opinion it is not a question of whether it is essential for us, it is a matter of how we aught to do it better.
This is why all the debate, because no state of any religion today is final - which indicates that religions needs to adjust to a changing view of the world.

My view is that true religion must match up with a true spirituality which must reflect all those perrenial values associated with love, compassion, justice and human solidarity and hope for humanity's future . These are spiritual values which religions ostensibly espouse but often mix up with power and politics.

The important thing is authentic spirituality and if religion does not lead to it, it becomes counter productive and a tool for evil. No wonder it is such a hot topic!.

We live in uncertain and changing times. Religion has always tended to become a hot topic in such circumstances. In the fifties when things were more stable and predictable for many people religion faded into the background and probably will again.

I think it is due to proselytizing. People who believe that it is their duty to "spread the word" come off as downright rude to those who do not have such a belief. Most of the world's religions do not proselytize. They go about their business peacefully, and anyone who wants to come ask questions is generally welcome, at least to some introductory lecture or gathering.

But the idea that you can tell someone else how to find their own spiritual pathway offends many of us. We get defensive, they get aggressive, and the mockers sit around and make the situation worse. The mockers, we must assume, are materialists who believe the very idea of a spiritual pathway is nonsense.

Religion is such a hot topic because people are truly passionate about their faith and belief, and will defend it with tooth and nail.
When you are passionate about something you give your whole self to it, and that is why people talk about it with such exuberance and love.
That is also why if you are not comfortable talking about it and accepting others for who they are, what they beleive, then dont bring it up.
God bless and thanks for the opportunity to spread the Gospel.

It could be that Satan is at it again trying destroy what God is putting together, religon and denominations to me is separation of God's people through bondages and the different beliefs, what happened to one God, one Jesus, and Holy Spirit that the Bible talks about you either believe or you don't you are either save by Christ or you are not,you either believe in the Bible or you don't, you either have a relationship with Jesus or you don't and if you do you should believe in the above, you either there or not.

It makes a great topic for debate and there are many sections that little is known about. Also there are so many different beliefs that there is always something to discuss.

Because religion represent a sort of covering under which one hides one's own iniquities and fears. Ever heard of the Ku Klux Klan? Within their literature there's a lot of King James Bible.

It's sort of: I will ask my God to beat up your God.

Because its what people believe and because religion is talked about so much to begin with because of fights over it. I don't know other than that.
