In scripture, God tells us to get married undefiled, and never love our husbands/wives more than we love Him. Why can't we love both of them equally? Does God feel this way about a parent's love for their children or a children's love for their parents?

Loving husband or wife in a manner equal with your love for God raises up your spouse to the level of God.

That would be idolatrous.

Read Isaiah 14:12-17
God shares His glorious position with no one. If your relationship with your spouse is good, then maybe your relationship with God needs some work.

we must love the Lord our God more than any other relationship on the earth, because He gave His life for us, so that we can live forever with Him. This does not mean we are not to love our husbands/wives or children or our fellow man. He deserves first place in our lives- if we truly put Him first, He will give us a greater love for those around us as well.

because God should be first in our lives. When we love God the most, our love for our husbands and children are stronger still, for God strengthens us. Also, the Love we have for God is different than the love we have for our husband which is different still than the love we have for our children. Yet, God can give us so much love that we never run out. By having him at the top of our priorities list, all other parts of our lives fall into place

In the commandments, God says for us to love Him first. He loves us each more than anyone.

When Christians marry, the correct way, it is a sacrament. This means that God is a party to their marriage. God is the third person in the marriage. All of the love they have between themselves is also Gods love. They always choose to love, honor and serve God first and in this way are loving, honoring and serving their spouses first as well.

This is a mystery.

Because God comes first, always. To love something the same as you love God would be to elevate that other person to the status of God.

God wants us to love Him more because He wants us to be grounded and rooted in His love (Ep 3:17). We love because He first loved us (1 John 4:17) - this verse tells us we are only capable of loving others when we have experienced God's love for us. As New Covenant Christians Jesus has given us a new commandment to love others as He has loved us (John 13:34) - this verse tells us that we have to love others the way God has loved us. Therefore God wants us to love Him first and foremost because He wants us to love others with His love (the agape, unconditional and sacrificial love) which others will surely enjoy and reciprocate. Moreover when we love with God's love we are empowered to do so as the Holy Spirit will pour out the love of God in our hearts (Rom 5:5). God wants us to love Him first so that we can love others with the power and purity of His love.

That way God leaves himself an out to knock up other people's wives like he did Mary.

The meaning here is that we should always be humble and not selfish and to put something above ourselves....doing this keeps us focused on what is important and keeps us in balance.....when we get to self centered we become selfish and that is not good for us nor is it good for those around us.

Jesus said also to love one another as I have love you.

You are all wrong!

It is because, we come to this world alone and we will all leave alone.
We are all uniquely responsible for our actions and answerable only to God.
So keep him above all else!

Hope that helps!
