You should first check over your past tax returns to see if there was anything that your accountant missed. Then if there is ask him about it, and if needbe have him file an amended tax return for you. If he didn't miss anything, but you forgot to give him something then he can file an amended tax return for you, but only for the last 3 years. If it's his fault he shouldn't charge for filing an amended return, but if you didn't give him something, then he should charge you for the amended return.

You can't just refile, but you can file amended returns for those years. Before 2003 you wouldn't get any refund that would have been due, and for 2003 you'd need to file this week to still get a refund.

Sure you can file amended returns, but it's a whole lot of trouble, and you're much more likely to get audited.
