I just got my braces on yesterday morning. And yes they hurt like crazy. In any case, my bottom teeth (to me) are perfectly fine, nice, and straight but my orthodontist said there is overcrowding in my bottom set of teeth. I would disagree but nonetheless I have braces on the top and bottom. Could someone explain this overcrowding business to me and how exactly will my braces help that when my bottom teeth are visually fine.

the roots of your teeth move before your actually tooth does - so if your x-rays showed overcrowding of your roots, then your teeth will soon follow. trust your orthodontist - they know what they're doing.

I had the same thing. apparently overcrowding can be the slightest bit of crowding. My two k9's weren't off to me, but once the braces had been on two years, I definitely noticed that they were originally off. The braces were pulling the teeth away and out so that at the end of the two years, they were pulled together to make the perfect line. Hang in there, the pain lessens over time.

Overcrowding in teeth is when there is not enough room between your teeth to properly clean them.
If you disagree then why have you got braces on.
It sound like you have more money than common sense.
Usually when there is overcrowding the teeth are crooked and jambed tightly against each other.

Both my daughter had braces - it helps straighten the teeth out allowing them to grow properly. Sometimes teeth need to be removed also in order to make room

visually fine to you and me and visually fine to an ortho are two different things. promise.

that doesn't mean there isn't a problem, most likely there is. i don't think people are quick to treat people just for money. There's probably a problem. You may want to ask your doctor to explain it to you.

The theory is that they will not become crooked as the teeth come in
