I've never even heard of 'Gita'. Unless you mean Bhagavad Gita, in which case it's probably because we're not followers of that religion.

Very first reason is Bhagvat Gita is far beyond the philosophy so many people. That is why most of the people will lie that they don't have time to read it.
There are 18 chapters in Bhagvat Gita consisting of more than 18000 slokas. One who has excellent knowledge of Sanskrit will probably take 2 days (days and night) to completely read Bhagvat Gita. I remember this statistic because Shrimad Gokulnathji (second son of Shri Vallabhacharya, founder of Vaishnavism sect) was commited to eat food only after had would finish reading Bhagvat Gita and that would take him 1.5-2 days to finish reading. So for two days he would go without eating food.
Third thing, many people believe that they think globally and they are far beyond religion, that is why they do not give proper respect to Bhagvat Gita, even though they are respectful to other religion.

Gita or the Bhagwadgita, is a discourse given by the soul of all the souls, Shri Krishn, to a deserving soul like Arjuna.
If you have gone through it, you may recall that it took a person of Arjun's caliber, full 18 chapters to come to terms with the reasonings given by the lord of all the lords, Krishn.
When it was so difficult for even Arjun, how on earth can we even dare to feel that it will be possible for us to grasp the contents, with our intellect?
And the market is flooded with the works of umpteen no of authors, who claim themselves to be authority on Gita. They are wasting your time for their fame or money, or both, and we are easy prey to this.
Bhagwadgita, or for that matter any scripture, like Vedas, can only be comprehended by us when we meet a true saint of Arjuna's stature and learn it from him. And the saint has to be a living saint.
So in my very humble view, there is no use reading Gita every day. But keeping the Gita with devotion and waiting for a saint to make us grasp it is all we can do in the present circumustances. It is better to wait for a life time and get it right than to waste our efforts and get the whole thing wrong.

Why should you expect them to? After all, the Gita is the holy book of one particular religion, and not one that most people know anything about. So "people in general" not only refuse to read it, they probably don't even know of its existence -- or if they know, care in the slightest.
People who are seeking, who are on a spiritual quest, might stumble upon it, might read it somewhat, but probably not daily. That's the practice of a real devotee. Why should "people in general" be devotees?

Because due to forcing children by parents to do what they are not interested in and not giving them logical answers for their questions which the parents are itself not aware of,
People have got themselves in the competition of accumulating materialistic wealth to such an extent that they have forgotten their basics actually Gita has solution to all our existing problems and the problems we are goin g to actually face but there is no body who has tried to spread it to others or imbibe it for children from childhood like Quran and Bible
Hindu society today is flourishing because of that base but now the roots have been forgotten and people have slowly started suffering now realisation is dawning and the thought has started among the people and they are talking of searching answers for their thirst to go back to the roots.

Lord Sri Krishna says in Bhagavad gita 7.3,
"Out of many thousands among men, one may endeavor for perfection, and of those who have achieved perfection, hardly one knows Me in truth."
Purport to above verse by A.C.Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, Founder-Acharya of ISKCON
(International Society for Krishna Consciousness)
There are various grades of men, and out of many thousands, one may be sufficiently interested in transcendental realization to try to know what is the self, what is the body, and what is the Absolute Truth. Generally mankind is simply engaged in the animal propensities, namely eating, sleeping, defending and mating, and hardly anyone is interested in transcendental knowledge. The first six chapters of the Gita are meant for those who are interested in transcendental knowledge, in understanding the self, the Superself and the process of realization by jnana-yoga, dhyana-yoga and discrimination of the self from matter. However, Krishna can be known only by persons who are in Krishna consciousness. Other transcendentalists may achieve impersonal Brahman realization, for this is easier than understanding Krishna. Krishna is the Supreme Person, but at the same time He is beyond the knowledge of Brahman and Paramatma. The yogis and jnanis are confused in their attempts to understand Krishna . Although the greatest of the impersonalists, Sripada Sankaracarya, has admitted in his Gita commentary that Krishna is the Supreme Personality of Godhead, his followers do not accept Krishna as such, for it is very difficult to know Krishna , even though one has transcendental realization of impersonal Brahman.

Everyone has affinity to God in different name, Rama, Shiva, Krishana, Ma Durga. Though God is one, but each one feels connected and gets a response from a particular deity. A deity who answers one's prayers and guides is approached by the individual. All else is meaningless or less important for the devotee than receiving guidance or response to his/her prayer. In every family the tradition follows since childhood unless one of the members deviates for special reasons. All God are helpful.
