the only reason we have a bible is because some scholars wanted to scare the be-jesus out of people so the could collect taxes on time and gain power. people have an illusion that they are going to be saved. from what? dying, disease, famine? back in the day, people invented idols and deities because they could not explain thunder, lightening, earthquakes, volcano eruptions, titalwaves, locust, and whatever else came along.thank goodness for modern civilizations that can explain all these phenomenons. and for those who have seen the other side...psycidelic drugs do wonders.

There is no way to prove that ANYTHING you say is correct. However, you're wrong about several things. First of all, the Bible was not written by a bunch of scholars. It was written by more than forty different people, all at various educational levels, from kings to fishermen.
Secondly, many of those who wrote the Bible were killed for their beliefs.

As for the events recorded in the Bible, all historical aspects (people, places, other events) were recorded VERY carefully. Why would a person record historical events, if all they're going to do is add a fairy-tale aspect?
And no, science has NOT been able to explain away all the events in the Bible. There are some who say that certain things are impossible, but they have not been able to prove that they did not happen. Not one thing in the Bible has been disproven. NOT ONE. For more than two thousand years, people have tried...and failed.

This is an old and very common argument that just doesn't work.

There is no evidence that anyone paid taxes because they were afraid of God. No one who loves God/Christ is afraid...so that doesn't really work. It's only non-believers who believe that we are all scared into believing. As a Christian, I can tell you that is just not true. I do not pay my taxes because I'm afraid of hell...I am afraid of penaties and intrest though...

You are right the pagan God's were frightening. They were always angry, and people were frightened of them. But that is not the God we know and is not what Christ taught.

Modern civilization has not been able to explain all these things. They have made stabs at it...but they have not explained the virgin birth, the resurrection, nor the miracles that Jesus performed. There are many miracles that happen still...that no one can explain. If any non-believers were really interested in finding out the truth...then they should go and see the miracles for themselves. They should go and check it out to find out if they are true...my guess is that you are too afraid, afraid that you will become convinced of God, of a divine perfection that they will be drawn into loving.

You need to study history. The Bible is the most contested book ever written and it has withstood the test of time. You are confused. Over 500 eye witnesses to the resurrection of Christ and if Jesus could have been explained away, the Romans would have done it. Instead they had to kill the Christians to try to get rid of them, yet they live today. More numerous and more steadfast in their belief than ever before.

Have you read the bible? It was not written within a year. There is no contradiction in this book but from Genesis on foretells of what's to come a thousand years later which is exactly what happened. Yes, I have a hope. Don't you?
