in menu and setup cc mode(caption)has c1,c2, & off I've tried all and I still can't see my cable what's up?

The tv is a panasonic with a build it dvd player the dvd player messed up and I took it out of the tv but........can it be that since the dvd player was messed up the tv is too?

The TV path and the DVD path are completely independent (like, the DVD output was connected to component-1)

CC is for closed captions. It is not clear if you can't see closed captions or video.
If you can't see video, do a new channel scan.
Not all channels may transmit closed captions
