Do you think it's a good idea for the Navy to train dolphins and sea lions to guard waters off the coast of a major submarine base?

Yes, Dogs are used in a variety of military duties on land why not dolphins or sea lions for patrols in our costal waters. It's their turf, they know it better than anyone.

Yes. It frees up people to do functions that the dolphins and sea lions can't do, such as monitor the cameras, perform security checks, fire the guns, steer the boat, ship, whatever.

USN has been using dolphins for decades, it's just that PETA or some other animals rights group has decided to raise a stink over it, again.

It doesn't hurt them and it does add a bit of extra security. I'm not sure how exactly dolphins and sea lions would actually guard anything though.

Yes! why not? Does it hurt anyone? No! Does it help in an area we have difficulty protecting ourselves? Yes! What's your question? This seems like more of an opionion statement than a question.

Sure. And when they find something "fishy" they can type out a report in triplicate, and send it to the White House.
