The best thing about being a Canadian is the diversity in our very large country. We have huge mountain ranges, 3 sea coasts, prairies, arctic tundra, fertile wine and fruit growing valleys, cities thousands of feet above sea level and cities on bedrock.
With our relatively open immigration policies, we have an incredible diversity of culture and art which can be experienced in our biggest cities as well as a french only province with cultural practises dating back to the Napoleonic era. We even have our own aboriginal peoples who bring their own influences into Canadian life.
Our economy is diverse. We have lots of natural resources but we have large pockets of light and heavy industry as well as niches of high technology which allows for a lot of different employment options for Canadians.
I don't wish to give you the impression that we think we are perfect. We make a lot of mistakes, many of them quite serious but most of us try hard to fit into this "vertical mosaic" of diversity which is the best thing about being a Canadian.
Eh?

Being proud and free. Can any other coutry boast about its friendships with so many countries? Travel and you'll see. Wear a Canadian flag and people are polite and friendly everywhere. I took it all for granted when I lived in Ontario. Now I reside in Las Vegas, NV and I miss home very much. I miss the forests, the lakes and rivers, the animals and wildlife, the diverse cultures, the northern lights, Fall and Spring. And of course, our health system. We are not perfect - far from it to be sure. But I will never be able to call anywhere else home.

Free health care........what is a Canadian??? is more to the point..any fool with a plane ticket and a complaint about his own country can stay and claim refugee status and the government gives them $1800 per month! Most immigrants now come here for all our great social benefits and don't give a rats a** about our history. 100 years from now, history will show that Canada was a great experiment that failed!!!
why not ask what the worst thing is? give us racists an outlet to rant on immigration policies that are terrible here.

We have a lot to be glad about, so it's hard to pick just one thing. I guess that we can sleep at night without fear, unlike so many other countries, would have to be one of the most important.
And that Biff doesn't live here.

The war of 1812.
The USA invades thinking native Canadians would support them and gets its but kicked.
You think those crazy Yankees would have learnt by now, they made the same mistake in Vietnam and Iraq.
