I am getting married Nov 3, 2007... I know I need to send them 8 weeks prior. When should I ask my friend to have the invites done for me so I can start writing them out. I just don't want to leave it open and then be killing myself writing them all out a few days before. She is very good at these things but has been extremely busy with other orders. She wants to do my invites for me but I just want to keep an eye out so I don't get over loaded. When should I have all the invitations back from the printer?

They have to go out in Sept so I'd ask for them back by the begining of July, that gives you 2 months to address them or God forbid, if there is a mistake enough time to reprint them.

BTW, how was Easter? You had a rough week last week and I've been thinking about you. How are you feeling this week?

You should have your cards in latest end July. That way you can send them out 8 weeks before the wedding.
I suggest you agree this with her before you commit yourself. You see the draft early July and a final decision is taken on design and layout. The final package should reach you last week in July. In the interim while you wait for the cards, put together a guest list to easy the process when the cards arrive.

You only need to send the invitations out about three and a half weeks ahead, as they should arrive three weeks prior to the actual wedding. So, order them ahead enough so that you will have time to address them. by hand, and mail them so that they arrive no later than three weeks prior to the actual wedding. Sending them out eight weeks prior to the wedding is somewhat gosh, unless, the wedding is out of the city/town where you live. For instance, if you live in Atlanta, Ga. and are having the wedding on the beach, in Destin, Fla., then you would send them out about four to five weeks ahead, so people will have enough time to make travel arrangements. Otherwise, if the wedding is in the brides home town, three weeks in considered proper.

Ask her when she thinks that she will have them done and make sure that she knows you would like them by Mid August. Then, when you get them, send her a thank you note or flowers to her work.
Ask if you can have the envelopes if she winds up running behind with other orders.

Good Luck & Congrats on the wedding!

invites go out NO LATER THAN 4 weeks prior to the wedding. (October 3)
you need to back that up 2-3 weeks for stuffing, addressing, stamping etc (September 12)
Back that up 2 week to go through them and make sure they are all ok and there are no errors. (July 29)

8 weeks prior is the LEAST amount of time you need. If you have a lot of out of town guests, either send it at 12 weeks in advance or send a "save the date"--you are going to want them to leave time to take off work AND book tickets.

While waiting, try to print out all of the address labels NOW.

Also, be prepared for calling people who don't RSVP. You want to leave time so you don't have to rush and stress.

Have them done 10 weeks prior to the wedding. That way you have at least a week to get them addressed and in the mail. There are four girls in my family and that is what we all have done. Hope this helps.
