Because respiration is not adding NEW carbon to the air. It is only adding carbon from our bodies BACK into the air; which carbon came from eating animals that got it from eating plants that got it from the air. So we are not adding to the concentration of CO2 in the air by breathing, we are just recycling it, like rain recycles the same water supply back into rivers. Now a coal fired power plant takes carbon dug out of the ground and puts it in the air, increasing the concentration in the air. A car takes oil pumped out of the ground and releases the carbon in it into the air. The carbon in oil and coal has been underground for millions of years at least.

Hay Waite a minute CO2 is just CO2 and it doesn't make any difference where it came from. Plants remove the CO2 and keep the C and give u the oxygen. CO2 is not the problem but Mother natures way in recycling our air.
