I just love how a big part of the problem thinks that it is the solution! :o(
Human weakness. Some minds are created to think for themselves, some are not and some don't think much at all.
I believe the raising of the status of women out of poverty, the increase in quality of education for all people and care of our fellow human beings would help. Equinimity, recognising and maximising human potential humainly!
I believe in teaching universal values, human rights, legal rights and conflict resolution in the schools. It should be manditory. I also believe we should have trained individuals to teach an awareness course in religion and spirituality as madatory in the schools as well. This would be a course to inform not 'judge'.
I believe firmly that Christianity and perhaps other major religions have at the root a flawed hate and fear mungering approach to those that do not believe what they believe. We are never going to have peace if you Christians see outsiders as Satanists. I am not a Christian and I am a very decent human being! You slandr me with your way of belief.
An example, Jesus taught love, but to many of you do not listen and are not capable of unconditional love. Many Pagans, humanists, Agnostics and Athiests are.
Also, take a good look at the 'fear' instilled in many of these people. Fear is the worst, people do unspeakable things out of fear! There was a woman on here that said she was depriving her daughter of food because she joined a covan! She was according to what she told us clearly abusing her daughter out of fear!!!
The law has a hard enough time protecting people. Immagine if we had Christianity as the rule of law. We would be killing people right and left! Even though God said " Thou shall not kill" It is all contextualised and selective.
Did you know that about 20% of human beings are not able to experience conscience? It is chemical, biological! Science is a blessing. We might think the devil did it! These people are OK if they think they can get what they want by being nice but they are also the ones capable of completly justifying their actions with out any remorse or empathy even if it is taking a life. Gee, they must have had a lot of phsycopaths working for God over the years. Immagine those guys who tortured and killed millions of men, mostly women and of course don't foreget the little kids they killed during the inquisition in Europe. They slaughtered a whole town full of people in France! Oh, sorry, they were Satanists so it is OK! Oh, so sorry they were not Christians...any one else?
We give justification of violence through fear. We also justify it through glorification in our cultures. It is a form of violence to subjigate women so the enactment of violence is made more and more justifiable as that subjigation is increased! Look at history. Violence to those and amongst those who are oppressed is always greater, isn't it.? Then the oppressed get steriotyped as being that way inherently! It is causal.
This is a huge subject and an excellent question. Thank you.
Peace!
Peace!

There is a hypothesis that human beings are descended from primates that were more aggressive than other primates. We see that chimpanzees are more aggressive than Gorillas so there is clearly a range of levels of aggression among primates. It may be that our early proto-human ancestors were marginally more aggressive than chimpanzees and that this created a natural selection "arms race" cycle that led to humans becoming increasingly aggressive.
We may be stuck with it. Bad thought I know...

Do 'we'???
Guess I live separate and unaffected - in this land of the free, and home of the brave . . .
Isn't violence something we read and hear about?
It's certainly NOT something that I participate in. . .
