I am betting that this is a common symptom rash. Usually associated with fever. Some children get one when they teeth. Some get it when they run fever. Some get it as an allergy pre-reaction. (My daughters first symptom of a drug allergy was a rash) I am not worried that it is chicken pox. Not all children get it every time they run fever. There may be just one other little element that is causing the rash. In the mean time look and see what was differnt in the last 72 hours so you can tell the doctor and you can eliminate an irratant.Good Luck and try not to worry all will be fine

The fever came before the rash? Was there any runny nose or slight congestion before the rash as well? It could be what is called a viral exanthem like roseola. The rash doesn't itch and the fever is short lived but can last up to a week. The rash usually starts as the fever goes away. There is nothing you need to do about that but a trip to the doctor for confirmation is a good idea. Here are some pictures and info, the pictures are of pretty extreme cases; my son is just getting over roseola but his was no where near as extreme. His looked like red goose bumps from his collarbone to his knees and a couple on the face. Good luck, hope the little one feels better soon.

Sounds like it could be roseola, a minor rash that usually shows up a day or two after a fever and goes away within a couple days. My son will get a high fever with no other symptoms, break out the next day, mostly on his torso/back and neck and then be fine. It never seems to bother him or itch and it's not really raised like chicken pox usually are. My pediatrician directly told me that fevers are just a bodies way to fight off infection and that a rash like that generally means they've succeded, and in regards to the hand foot and mouth answer, it's called hand foot and mouth because the spots show up almost exclusively on the hands, feet, mouth and sometimes butt and have a raised apperance.

The very same thing happened to our Son about 3 weeks ago and at first they thought he had Chicken Pox. The rash turned out to be a 'viral rash' because of an ear infection. Good luck at Docs and try not to worry! (Easier said then done)

It could be chicken pox or a rash of some kind, or an allergic reaction to something. I remember getting the chicken pox when I was very young. They didn't itch at first. But when they started to dry out, My gosh! I scratched so much. Chicken pox spots look like pimples all over the body

Doesn't sound like chickenpox - does he also have a runny nose and a cough? Are the spots becoming like little blisters? These symptoms would point to chickenpox.
Perhaps it's just a general virus-type rash. It could also be a simple heat rash in response to his fever yesterday.
PS: In response to other smart comments: If every mother took their child to the GP every time they ran a simple fever, they'd be there every other week and there would be no appointments left for anyone else! Mothers know when they are capable of caring for their own sick child and when it is time to call in the doctor. Obviously if this child had meningitis the symptoms would be severe. Mum has already stated that there is no fever today so how could his life be in danger? What a load of rubbish!

It does sound like Roseola. Chicken pox have a characteristic appearance of "dew drops on a red base". They are tiny blisteers, the first is the largest. Chicken pox is easy to identify it always itches and the blisters crust over. Old Doc

It could be a heat rash. Thats what it sounds like to me, and depending on his age, its pretty common to get heat rashes, even a temp can cause this.

Have you done the tumbler test? If the spots dont fade when a glass is pressed over them then take Baby to A&E straight away. If in doubt call NHS direct on 0845 46 47.
