I had attended a training on gangs recently and the officer presenting it stated that as organized criminal organizations go, the NOLA PD is the worst in the nation.

Rick, that is a good question. So maybe a PD is a reflection of its community?

I live 70 miles from N.O. and I know what I see on the local news coverage. The corruption is rampant. I believe some of the reasons the cops are corrupt goes up the ladder. Yeah, the cops are recruited from local folks, who are deep down good citizens at heart, and start out with good intent. But when you get a job and swear to uphold an oath, then the career criminal you arrrested in the morning goes free in the afternoon, it makes one wonder "what's the point?"

Low pay, lack of trust and cooperation by citizens, is just part of the problem.

Crooked judges and DA Eddie Jordan are part of the problem.

Re: District Atty. Eddie Jordan recently let a career criminal go free on the streets because they supposedly could not find a key police officer witness who no longer worked on the force. "We couldn't find him to issue a summons", Jordan stated. A WWL-TV reporter took about an hour to find the officer, still living at the same address in NOLA for the last several years.

One or two crooked judges love to reduce bonds too, without appropriate bond hearings, etc. , therefore many criminals just get bonded out, just to picked up again a few days later (or maybe not).

Some of the cops WERE SHOWN ON TV LOOTING after Hurricane Katrina, and carrying their loot back up to an apartment they had found.

Any basis for corruption? You bet your a$$ there is.

Check out the local news sometime...

We all saw the residents of New Orleans on the news. Is it any wonder that they have the most corrupt force. I mean, where do you think they recruited from?
