In this age of communication, how can we utilize and use the technology and by any other means to educate the people to keep their environment safe and clean . We have good educated people acting dumb and polluting their immediate sorrundings by littering the vacant plots , drains in front of their homes with their domestic garbage . How should the government enforce the environment protection and not to litter our cities towns and villages . How do we educate the common people to protect their immediate surroundings?

I think the best way is to educate the public is to inculcate in their minds the importance of taking care of the environment at a very young age. Having a subject integrated in the curriculum about preserving nature at the grade school level is a good move, with informercials, movies and other visual tools could help a lot. It is important that such idea be given at a tender age because this will impose certain rules upon the child which, with proper discipline, he will carry until he reaches maturity. That for me is a proper mindset.

You cannot force this sort of thing on people who are constantly scratching to make a living. You are going to have to pay higher taxes and commit your political parties to corruption-free government so that funds are available to do adequate garbage collection in these areas.

Another requirement is to ensure that the people involved have secure property rights on the areas where they live. If they have no secure property rights, they will not care about the immediate environment if they can be shifted off at any time by government, (corrupt or otherwise) or by financially more powerful people.

Public education makes a big difference too. This takes time and is often a generational change. However there are always stupid people around who will ignore such education.

It is really tough teaching people what they already know but don't practise. The only thing that we can do is to keep our own house in order & set an example. I have seen this practically. There were no trees on the stretch of our street near our new home. I planted four trees & i am taking care of them. After this inmates of three more houses have done the same near their houses. I am really happy that without uttering a word i could make a difference

People used to dump their garbage near my house for a long time. I repeatedly requested them to put the garbage in the provided dust bins. Nobody cared. One day a lady threw the garbage near my house. I simply collected them and thrown in her house out of angry. That is the last day. No more garbage near my house. This is the way of teaching people. There is a proverb. SPARE THE ROD AND SPOIL THE CHILD.
