I've never EVER heard anyone mock the spiritual roots of the American Indians. Seriously. And I mock religion all day long. It's my job. Just where are you hearing this?
I guess you must be talking about Christians mocking Indians. That sounds about right. The ones who cry the loudest about being persecuted have always been the world's greatest persecutors.

I am a Native American and I am persecuted everyday for following an age old Native Custom of the Two Spirit Life. Almost everyday I'm ridiculed, mocked and told "The old ways are dead chief, **Pointing to a Cross** They say theres the Cross of Changes. "Enigma" made a song about it called "The Cross of Changes" I have learned if someone doesn't understands it and mocks it, it's because of their own ignorance and fear. Someone might be doing better then they are in the belief sector. Sad thing is I'm also a Gay Native American, in my home state which is home to many Native American tribes I am put down and ignored due to my race in the gay community. They worship and praise the cowboy, but in away they are somewhat ashamed or jealous of the Native Americans. I mean one would think the Gay community would know better. Oh well. Anyhow you are definitly right, many Natives are mocked for what they believe in, Thnx for listening

Huh? Where's this? Around here (and we don't have a huge Native American population) we support them. As the home of Pocohantus, we have a very proud heritage (and we know the real story, not that fake lovey crap you see on tv). There are festivals every year and several shops that promote the culture of the local Native American tribes. I live in an area that has no less then 10 Catholic churches, and several more chruches of other Christian dominations, and there is no hatred towards any Native American culture here.

We visited Mount Rushmore a few years ago. In one of the museum lodges we saw a buffalo skin with an old Indian prayer painted on it. It could have been considered Christian. I don't know enough about the Indian religion to find fault.
The practice of revering Mother Earth and all her creatures as in saying God is in everything brings worship to the creature, not the Creator.

i haven't read anything on hear bashing american indians beliefs. i'm pagan and yes, many people hold extreme misconceptions about our beliefs (which ever path we follow) but i have actually found that lots of people on this forum of different religions are indifferent to paganism and some are just supportive.
