Painting and writing are basically the same thing. They are learnable skills of expression that get better with practice. You can write can't you? So you should have no trouble painting. Don't worry too much about how it comes out, with practice you'll get better. What you should put your mind to is what you want to paint. The "inner eye" you mention is merely our individual way of looking at the world and the talent you refer to is the skill in translating these personal views into a universally recognised form that others could see, understand and empathize with. Pretty much the same as writing. Just remember, the idea expressed is more important than the form used. The forms only become important if you plan on selling the product. If not, painting is a great way to express yourself without worrying too much about proper spelling and grammar.

I have been painting with an art teacher for almost two years. Also, I have a brain injury, and it is difficult to pay attention to detail at times. But I have painted some amazing things in the past two years and have really grown as an artist! For my ideas, before starting a new project, I research on google for ideas. then print off what pictures I made need to help me visualize the various effects! Art n painting are a great emotional outlet for me. I become thoughly exhausted after class and have to nap. But that's ok!

You know this 'inner eye' thing is just a load of bull don't you? Everyone...unless they paint abstracts...has the object of their painting in front of them somehow. Landscapes are usually painted outside or from pictures taken by camera. Portraits are sat for by the subjects or done by pictures also. Nudes are done from models. Still lifes are done with the objects in front of the artist. Very few artists actually visualise the subject of their art....in reality at the bottom line it is just copying what is in front of you...with your interpretation.

As someone who draws, I've had seasoned artist (people whom I'm amazed at the talent of, who I think are a lot better than me) complement me on the fact that I can draw someone from my mind. There are different kinds of telents. The ability to capture what is in front of you is one such. It is amazing.
Hobies are what makes you happy. No one can tell you if you should or shouldn't take them up. It's up to you. If you enjoy painting, have fun with it. Good luck in your art.
(You have this same question up two times. Did your computer hiccup?)

no, different artists can draw from memory others need a subject in front of them, mainly do it for the enjoyment of the craft, beauty is definitely in the eye of the beholder when it comes to art, but as long as you are happy with it and it depicts what you had in mind at the time or conveys to someone what you are feeling then you are going well. happy painting.

Wrong. If you say you can do a fairly nice job, then you have talent.

The good thing about art is it doesn't have to be perfect! I'm into abstract myself. Art is what you make of it.
