So, fellow muslims, I once asked my mom this question:
If there's a man whose religion is peaceful, and doesn't allow him to hurt anyone at all, and then there's this guy name Bob, and he's annoying like Hell.
One day, that man and Bob sits together, suddenly Bob said "Your religion is violent."
The man said nothing.
Bob repeated "Your religion is violent"
For three bloody months.
And then finally "Your religion is vio-SMACK, one tight slap from the man.
and Bob said "AHA! I KNEW YOU GUYS WERE VIOLENT! I'M GONNA TELL THE WORLD!"
So, I asked my mom, who was wrong here? Bob or that man? My mom said it was that man's fault, sorta. Because he declared that his religion was peaceful. Bob being a retard asked for trouble, but if that man never bothered in the first place, neither would Bob.
So. Do you think it's our fault of saying "Islam is a religion of peace" that attracted the retards, or could we have done something about it?

Salam :) i'm a Muslim teen living in Canada. I placed on hijab alhamdullilah and that's for the main section properly-known here considering the fact that i stay in a great city with a huge Muslim inhabitants. I do get the few ignorant comments and idiots in college regardless of the shown fact that who ask stuff like "yo have been given a bomb below there hahaha". however the toughest section is being different out of your friends. Being a Muslim, events, alcohol relationship boys wearing revealing outfits and so forth is haram, and on an analogous time as i do no longer pick to try this besides, that's slightly awkward to would desire to describe why i do no longer do it to those that evaluate it basically a ingredient of being a young person and its easy to them. Muslims living in Muslim international places certainly have it much less complicated whilst it includes installation in. And with nutrition that's slightly troublesome yet I consistently attempt to verify the label if i'm uncertain of the factors. yet i does no longer wanna be the different faith no remember how complicated it gets and how different i think from everybody else, i'm happy to be Muslim :)

I am glad you brought this up, because this is a very good point. I think that it really is not our fault for saying that Islam is a religion of peace, because our religion is peaceful. This was true right from the start, and people knew Islam was peaceful before all this violence occured. Unfortunately, all these terrorists came and went against the Holy Quaran, and now many people do not know the true peaceful meaning of Islam. Allah (swt) will take care of those who went against Islam like that.
And Allah (God) knows best.

If you can see it from a non muslims perspective, everytime a muslim says Islam is a peaceful religion, there seems to be actions from some muslims contradicting it, and then its not taken seriously. Maybe they are provoked into it....i do not know.
Well if there was anything we could do about it, it could start when we try to learn a bit more about our religion and the teachings of others...
Edit: come on give us a clue, im too dumb to to figure that out, lol. Yellow and dangerous, hmmmm?

You made me speechless!!
Even muslims are humen......it were not we who shouted first for no reason that islam is a peacful religion, We just knew it but never imposed our believes on others.....it was not untill some people tried to generalize the acts of few terrorists for the whole muslim community and our religion.there we started telling that our religion is peaceful...and became somewhat apologist for no reason. explaining again and again bu no one is listening and next day we see the same type of comments...and this is happening from ages !...and i fear that there is a limit to everything.........as I wonder if this Slogan that "islam is violent and muslims are evil" would some day make us to "Slap" back in real..... as i have already said we are human.....and this propaganda is already comming to my mouth...but again My religion does not allow me to insult other religions and that is the problem of we muslims !! we have to turn of other cheek becuase we are peacful ! I wonder if this world would every understand us!
Peace Be With You !!

why don't we ask bob?!! lol, what I think as a Muslim that we should stop talking and try to prove them wrong, if a person says to me that our religion is not peaceful I would try to prove the opposite in a good way , by doing good deeds,to show the world how peaceful we are, our manners, helping the needy , talking will not help forget it, don't enter discussions for nothing, if some one wants to learn about Islam or know something help.

Peace does not mean that if some one slap your face you put your other side in front of him.
The fourth Caliph of Islam, Ali bin Taalib (may Allah be pleased on him), has said, "if some one slaps on your face, it is his mistake and if he slaps you second time it's your mistake".
I do not agree with the point of view of your mother, even I respect her as mine.
Islam is the religion of peace for true, good and innocent people, and it offers very swear punishments for evil doers and criminals to maintain peace in society. Don't be confused that peace means let any one do what he want to do and don't stop him doing some thing wrong.
If we stop some one from sin, it is again a kind of helping him to save him from the fire of hell. So this the peace.

Islam is like a gentle giant, as long as you do not transgress, obey the treaties and pacts you have made with Islamic countries, you will see peace, but Betray, take Arab lands and give it to the Jews (1917), Attack Egypt (1953), invade Iraq and Afganistan under false excuses, help Etheopia attack Somalia and kill many civillans, then you're headed for violence.

we know that we're muslims, but we're not divine..we're still human, with human feelings(inspite of being treated like animals my some)..the reaction the man gave would be similar to one which a loving mother would if someone insulted her dear son right in front of her..i don't think there's anyhing wrong in saying that Islam is peaceful, since that is the truth.we keep saying this not to convince anyone that our religion is the best or anything, rather to have some peace, right?

Praise be to Allah.
We should talk to those who really have open minds, and THAT MAN, should be patient or at least leave BOB yaping with himself, as in Islam we believe that as Allah says (interpretation of the meaning):
“and when the foolish address them (with bad words) they reply back with mild words of gentleness”
[al-Furqaan 25:63]
“Repel (the evil) with one which is better (i.e. Allaah orders the faithful believers to be patient at the time of anger, and to excuse those who treat them badly) then verily he, between whom and you there was enmity, (will become) as though he was a close friend”
[Fussilat 41:34]
