Ok, since U're in sixth grade, here's a simple one. Plants produce its own food right? So photosynthesis is that process where green plants synthesize its food (glucose, specifically). It requires the presence of light (thus the term "photo"). This process is made possible because green plants have pigment molecules called chlorophylls. Hope that helps.
