Dual Core is more of a generic term and all processors with two cores inside would fall under it.

The Pentium 4 8xx and 9xx are 64bit dual core processors.

Intel's Core Duo is a 32 bit laptop processor.

Intel's Core 2 Duo (Conroes and Allendales) is their latest 64bit, high performance, dual core technology. Core 2 Duo is now available for laptops and desktops.

Dual core and dual 2 core are different,
you might think of dual core as a processor with 2 cores,
while dual 2 core as a quad core processor.
of course core 2 dual is much faster
