my front door lock (mortis type) cannot be unlocked from the inside for somereason, even though it can be locked from the inside. any ideas of what i can do to correct this? will wd40 work?

Graphite powder. Get it from the hardware store in the door lock section.

It may be moreso that the internal workings of the lock have gone bad, like something has broke or come loose inside. It would probably be a good idea to replace the lock. If you don't see rust on the outside of the lock, I sincerely doubt that WD-40 will do much to any help. Depending on the lock, most will cost you about $10-$20. And they aren't too hard to replace. The new lock should have instructions that come with it on how to install it.

I have worked on many mortise locks over the years, and it can be difficult to determine why it is binding up. Use silicon spray, not WD-40. Sometimes the bolt can get hung up on the cover plate, try taking off the plate and see how it works.

hey....r u locked in da room???....do u ve a fone arnd, u cn call. or try 2 push hard or tey 2 open it wid a pin or a nail cutter...all the best!!!
