Download and install CPUZ from here:
http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php
Click on the memory and the SPD tab for details. It will show details per memory slot.
Yes, it is easy to install extra RAM stick. Just make sure your computer is unplugged while you do it. Check the position of the notch on the RAM stick, it should correspond with the slot. Just align the stick properly and give it a push until the locks at the end of the slot clicks to lock.
In case the RAM stick is not properly installed, you will hear 3 long beeps when you boot and the screen will be blank. Turn the PC off, unplug and repeat the installation process.
In case you will install used RAM sticks or those that had been stored idle in drawers, clean the contacting pins with an eraser until they become a bit shiny.
Your PC will surely speed up with more RAM on board. Happy computing!

You most likely have DDR RAM, and it's very easy to fit more, you simply slot it into a vacant memory slot in your pc. To find out what sory of RAM you already have go to www.crucial.com/uk and do the memory scan. The results will tell you what you have, and how much extra you can add.

Go to the following link, http://www.crucial.com/uk they can do an on line check which will determine which ram your motherboard supports. They will recommend the optimum amount. You can order on line and although they are not the cheapest it is worth paying for good ram. They guarantee compatibility with your motherboard and give an excellent warranty. I have used them many times and always been satisfied. Hope this helps.

how old is the pc? if it's 2 years or more then it will probably be sdram less than 2 years it's probably ddr ram, another way to tell is take the memory stick out and see how many notches it has along the edge where the gold pins are, if there's only one it's ddr and while you've got it out take it to your local pc shop and they'll give you the right one to match. when you take it out watch how the notch is placed as it's off centre then it can be put back properly.

Well there is online software on the internet which you can download for FREE, which you can install on your PC (its only a very small file) which you can use to view all the information on your pc's memory.
You should be able to find the memory tool at www.kingston.com
