I am using a laptop with AMD Sempron 2800+ processor, 1.6 GHz, 512 RAM. when i want to check the computer details by richt clicking my Computer and then select properties, it shows 798MHz or sometimes 399. could someone please tell me why this is happening and whats the way to get rid of it. the computer is running nice except thing . please help.

It could be AMD's Cool n Quiet at work. When your Sempron is idle or under low load, it downclocks automatically to reduce power consumption and therefore extend battery life. Once the processor is under full load, it goes full blast to 1.6Ghz.

Intel mobile processors also have that feature under a different name - Intel Speedstep Technology
