The best way to make displays of glass sheets is to go to Store Decor places that have clips that allow putting 1/4" glass sheets together to make cubes or other shapes while not dominating the glass. Items include hinges and locks.
Glass objects are normally displayed with down lighting or side lighting so the glass is viewed against a less bright background. A common solution is to use low voltage halogen spots that mount on exposed wires that carry the power. The right kind of objects can be lit from below through a hole in the stand or shelf.
