I can totally understand how you feel!! I use to have the worst cramps ever!! I guess you are asking what cause lower back cramps?? From what I studied in medical assisting school, some women's uterus's are tilted to the back and when the uterus contracts during menstrual flow, you will feel the cramps in your lower back, due to the position of your uterus. If your uterus is tilted to the front, then you would probably have cramps that would be more prominent in your lower abdomen. But if you get pain in your back that become extremely painful, then I would suggest going to the doctors, this way you can get medication for some relief. I use to get such "horrible" back pain during my period, and the doctor found nothing wrong, except that my uterus was tilted to the back. Take care:)

What you are dealing with is cramps which is very common to have occur during a period for many women. The reason for the cramping is because the uterus is trying to push out the lining that was no longer needed that month since a pregnancy did not occur.

If this pain is affecting your ability to function on a daily basis then pls see your dr to have this evaluated to see what could be causing the problem.

it is your womb contracting so the blood will flow!...this area is so close to your lower back, the pain just seems to be 'shared' amoungst the two areas...ask your doc for Ponstan...they work a treat
