How would you pronounce the name Mai? Let's say you were a sub teacher and you see this name during roll call or you were calling in a patient with this name at the doctors. Botton line, how would you say this name?

Id pronounce it May, like the month...my cousin has a horse named Mai spelled just like that and its pronounced May. Im american

I was going to spell my daughters middle name like this but settled on Mae as I didn't want any confusion when other people saw the spelling as one woman thought it was actually MIA! However...my nephews name is Jai and that is pronounced Jye so it could be seen by some as Mye! (which is why I spelt it Mae).

I am Aussie by the way...

I'm British, but I would pronounce it in the Eastern way - "My"

It's French for "May" (the month) but in French it's pronounced more like "Meh", which is not such a good name for a child!

I reckon if you like the name "May" you'd be best spelling it with the y.

My - My son's name is Kai (pronounced Ky) I'm Australian. No one has ever called my son "Kay" the only thing I've had is a couple of dislexic paople call him "Kia" (Keya). What pronunciation were you hoping for? There are different ways to spell names so it can't be said wrong..... Good Luck!
