My 5 year old loves the cartoons now, but I don't understand any of them. I remember the days when Saturday mornings meant sit in front of the tube until noon watching good quality cartoons, sure they were violent but can't beat the Looney Toons, The Smurfs and Archie cartoons!!!

The reason for this is that cartoons then were made for adults. Looney Toons, Tom & Jerry, Woody Woodpecker, Popeye, the Flintstones, and even Scooby Doo had some type of underlying adult theme that we, as kids didn't notice. Now the cartoons like the Simpsons, Futurama, and Family Guy have those same themes, but it's more out in the open. The cartoons for kids(they really make those now) don't make sense. I try to watch with my kids, but end up leaving the room.

It really depends on how old you are. All of the kid's cartoon when I was growing up are better than the ones on now. But a bunch of the kids who grew up watching those cartoons now make really awesome cartoons for adults (like Venture Bros, Family Guy, pretty much anything on Adult Swim). It makes me wonder what kinds of adult cartoon will be made when this group of children are adults...shudder.

They are worse now, back in the day they were good they made sense and they always had a subtle life lesson.
Ok credit to Lazy Town but thats not a cartoon.

Recess is about the best one around now.......but I agree with you, they are much worse now.
Have you seen what they have done to Scooby Doo????? What was wrong with him anyway..........you can't get better than some of the older cartoons that were around in the 70's and 80's, Tom and Jerry is still a classic, Hong Kong Phooey, Top Cat all still watchable now.

I think the cartoons are not very good. I like the old cartoons like Smurfs, Road Runner & The little Mermaid.

I don't watch cartoons. But a series changing main characters is generally a bad idea.

Cartoons today are mostly nonsense and the most extreme example of that nonsense is Ed, Edd, and Eddy. It's a CRAP!
