I hear about how great Pat Summit is, but if she's really making teams into champions, why isn't she coaching in the pros ?
And why aren't many women's coaches like Charli Turner of Arizona State and Gail Goestenkors, now of Texas, in the WNBA or Euro Leagues ?
Do college basketball games make that much more money, or is it more of a team control / power thing ?

Without A Doubt!! She has been to every NCAA tournament, been in 18 Final Fours, won 7 championships, plays the toughest schedule, got to 900 victories before anyone else, and the list goes on. You can go to the lady vols website, click on her name, and a list a mile long will tell the whole story. She is also the only coach to have 2 NCAA basketball courts named after her. She is the modern day "John Wooden" of female basketball. Yes, we love her here in Tennessee. She is a class act who requires her players at the end of the week to turn in a form stating they were in class. Get this...this past season they had an away game at ranked LSU. One girl on the team had 3 college papers due the day after the game. Summitt made her stay home, miss the game, and get her school work done. Give the lady 2 million dollars for that!!

Are youll stupid or something yes she deserves to be paid that much, Hell she has more wins than a Roy Williams or a Coach K... Just because shes a woman does not mean a thing quite being a sexist!! So what are you saying Canadce Parker does not deserve 10 million dollars for her shoe contract when she goes pro!! And Most of all the the coaches for the WNBA make at least 2 million or more, so you guys need to get your facts right!! But ang guy who knows basketball will say yes Pat Summit has a family just like everyone else shes won the most games out of woman and men right now!! So shut your faces!! Yo Weirdos!!

Pat Summit is a legendary coach, whether its male or female. Also, the WNBA isn't nearly as popular as women's college basketball, and it was almost gotten rid of completely a few years ago. I doubt Pat Summit will coach anywhere other than Tennessee.
But $1 million dollars? If anyone deserves it, its her, but maybe a few years down the road.

I don't think Pat Summit should make $1 Million but I do think she should make around the same kind of money Coach K from Duke, Roy Williams from UNC, Rick Paterno from Louiville, and Mr. Gillespie from Kentucky! She has won more titles than all of them put together and is one of the best coaches today period women or men! I don't watch womens basketball that often but to have 6 titles under your belt means you are doing something right! She took Tennesse from winning titles with Holsclaw or however you spell it and had a couple of down years(and by down years I mean not winning titles) and brought the Vols back a title this year!

Yes, she's coached 7 championship teams. Maybe she doesn't want to make the same mistake Rick Pitino did by coaching pro and you see he's back coaching college. And the Vols lady team makes money depending upon the crowd they draw and how far they go in the NCAA tourney.

She deserves every penny, Pat re-defined woman's hoops, Pat has had the oppertunity to coach men before and declined, also there aren't Any head coaches in the WNBA that makes 1 million dollars a year...NOT ONE.

The WNBA is all lesbians, Pat isnt very fond of them. trust me.thats just a VERY VERY small reason though.
Of course she deserves it....give her 10 million is what i say. 947 wins..7 championships, She will never leave Tennessee. She has already said that. She's signed with us through 2011-2012 and shell probably sign an extension after that
when she wins again next year shell get another raise!!
BTW she makes 1.6 million

in my opinion she is the greatest coach of all time...go to the tennessee website and look at her achievements. i think its www.tennessee.edu, but she has more wins than any coach male or female. she won 3 straight championships at one point. the reason she isnt in the pros, is cuz she wont make anywhere near as much as she makes now. she is like 97-0 in the 1st 2 rounds of the tournament, i think her team has been in every sweet 16. you gotta think, there is what only 1 professional sport in tennessee, and thats the titans. so that also puts more focus on her and her teams, and the fact that she is so successful makes it so easy for her to not even think about the pros. she is basically the queen of the state...lol

Definetly........Sweet 16 every year of the womens tourney (27 years I believe), 17 Final Fours, and 7 National Championships! Anything else need to be said? 2nd best coach of all-time in any sport. Behind John Wooden.

because she has been at Tennessee for 30 years and has earned her way to get her Milion dollars a year...and has earned the respect of all the coaches in colllege..and as for her coaching in the NBA she wont because the players very rarely listen to the coaches now and that is why the NBA is in such a mess it is know...and by the way the home of Candace Parker is Naperville , Illinois
