At first i thought i will just trim every 2 months but i found out that even when i told my hairdresser that i want to keep the length of my hair, she will thinned it alot( for example sideburns and the back) and cut portions of my hair very short and i find that i have lots of less hair then before i cut it...( maybe because im a guy, she doesnt understand and i look pretty young and maybe she thought i am a student )...

i have been keeping my hair for 6 months but i trim it in between every 2 months and i found out that my hair is still about the same length when i first wanted to keep long hair 6 months ago... Its very frustrating has anyone experienced this before?? and after my last bad experience i decided not to cut for at least 6 months straight...will it do??

I would start by finding a new hairdresser. If you only want say 1/4 of an inch trimmed off then tell them that you only want 1/8 of an inch trimmed off. They ALWAYS end up trimming of double of what they should. I have very long hair and I only get mine trimmed every 6 months.

You want to trim the edges of your hair fairly often, but tell your hairdresser that you do not want your hair thinned or anything. The best place to go to get a regular trim without all the thinning and such, is a cheap barber. Honest to goodness, he will do what you want and not what HE wants!

Find a hair stylist you feel really comfortable with. Make sure they understand your goal and respect it BEFORE you let them touch your hair. If it is healthy, you may not need a trim every two months!

Too much is being cut off. I would either wait longer to cut, or make sure that the hairstylist, and you may want to change who that is, knows that you want very, very little cut off.
