I'm looking for the different contraceptions to aid my family planning, be it pills, injections or patches. However, at the same time I do not want (if possible) to experience any side effects eg weight gain, hormon imbalance etc. It would help if these pills are also available over the counter.

*All* drugs have side effects, and *no* form of birth control is 100% effective. You will need to try one to see if it is the right one for you. I do not think any pills, injections, or patches are available over the counter in the US.

Other forms of birth control include IUDs, diaphragms, and condoms. You can get condoms at any drug store.

This is not a question that is easy to answer over the internet. Use the sources below for more information.

I've taken ortho tricyclen lo for about 3 years and I had very minimal side effects. I didn't have weight gain, my cramps stopped, and it's been effective ever since. It uses a low and effective dose of hormones so you have little to no side effects. But I think different birth control works differently on different people. I think some can do with a lower dosage and some need a higher one, check out this website for details.

All medications whether they be in pill form or injection form have the potential to cause side effects and that can include weight gain or weight loss, acne (sometimes), mood swings.

It may take trying a few to find the right one for you.

Your dr can help you to try and figure out which is a good choice for you.

the only thing you can get over the counter which would have no side effects are condoms or those ovulation kits...

The ovulation kits basically tell you when its safe to have sex. i think the main bit on that one is quite expensive but then you just have to buy pee sticks whenever you need em :)

I've seen one which is Persona brand and was about £65 and then 8 sticks are about a tenner. they're meant to be 96% effective.

Or you could get a copper coil, they do have a small amount of hormones in and you'd have to get it fitted at a clinic. but it lasts 5 years, i've got one and its great.

all pills work, you simply have to try them, all pills will make you gain weight, you have to go to a doctor or planned parenthood to get them by perscription.
