So b b, does that mean that you think it's ok to say anything on the radio or TV?!

Yeah. They should can that creep. There is no excuse for what he said.

I think that Sharpton is right. At some point you have to draw the line and start holding people accountable for this type of transgression and dismiss them from their very visible post.

Between Imus and Michael Richards, it's been a bad few months for aging racist white men.

Absolutely! This is NOT the first time Imus has made insulting racial comments...and perhaps if he is canned, it might be the LAST time. How do you say "nappy headed hos" without malice? However, Imus is not the only public figure who has disrespected black women. What about Eddie Murphy with is disgusting Norbit movie? What about the producers of Big Mama's house? When are people going to stop treating black women as we are fair game when it comes to stereotyping, defaming and demeaning? I for am just tired of it! It's almost like you have to be thin and blonde to get any sort of respect or love in this society...and it stinks!!!

The Imus show, for as serious as it is, is a comedy by nature. Don does a lot of good for example,The Imus Ranch for kids with cancer. And although he makes fun of and says despicable things about EVERY nationality or life style, he is certainly not a racist. Anyone who listens to him on a regular basis would know that. Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson and the ACLU are more racist than Imus ever will be.

Don like the above mentioned people are protected by free speech. If Al, Jesse and the like are able to say stupid, untrue things on a daily basis, so is Imus.

Noone is forced to listen to him. I would rather listen to Imus, who's show has more substance than most morning talk shows, than someone like Howard Stern. Stern for years tryed to copy Imus' shock jock style when Imus was doing shock radio before Stern was able to listen to a radio. At least some of Dons show is intellegent.

My answer is NO, I don't believe he should be fired.

I don't think he should be fired for saying that comment. I think that the whole story has been blown far out of proportion. I saw how he described certain members of the team, but that is no worse than they call each other. No, he shouldn't have said it, but he does have a right to say whatever he wants to. He should apologize for it and solemnly try to not make any more "racially charged" comments in the future.

Nope. People have said a lot worse things than he did. If people don't like what he says or how he says it, there is always the OFF button on the tv or radio. That's just how it is, though I do agree with his suspension. There is such as thing as political correctness after all and the TV is not a place for personal opinion on matters such as that.

NO! I don't tend to get "outraged" by speech or language. But, that just me. Everyone at one time or another has said or done something they've ended up regretting. I say get over it and move on.

Probably! What is wrong with people today? They are in the public eye and should have some social awareness!! If you FEEL that way....you should keep it to yourself or risk losing your job. Things are too politically correct and I guess everyone has to get used to it.
