ok i had a philosophy class and this was an actual question. i'm looking for possible answers to it...

question is

why?

I've heard it answered with "why not?"

Also I remember in a television series called The Prisoner, the prisoner blew up the all knowing computer by asking that question. It overloaded the circuits I guess.

MEANINGLESS AND SENSIBLE "WHYS" ARE AS FOLLOWS:-

1. MEANINGLESS "WHYS" :

There is no end to the endless series of "Meaningless Whys." Also, there is NO answer to every "Why?" After sometime, mostly, the endless "Whys," become quite senseless...

2. "SENSIBLE WHYS" :

" Within sensible limits, though, "Why" is what keeps us "alive and going" and is, therefore, definitely required to a certain limit, based on the individual merit, of each case...A healthy curiosity, must always be kept alive, "with much discretion, though."

Why is a fundamental desire of the human mind to understand, comprehend or perhaps just ponder reason and purpose, it is a driving force of the intellect to discover meaning and Revelation in that which is otherwise unknown or maybe just misunderstood, clarity is required!
