yes it is quickly

i find today's kids are not learning anything about being polite

i also find i get alot of compliments from others about my son
how polite he is,how they wish there grandsons or sons were like him....

i raised him with the same knowledge my mother raised me on and he has respect for everyone.

being polite boils down to respect for others and ones self
if ppl had respect for themselves they would not act like they do in public they would be too embarrassed

If the children aren't being taught to be polite then how can they learn? That's been taught in the homes which in itself is a rarity. A home is more than just a building where people reside it's a teaching ground, a place where compassion, and love is taught for the well being of the family. These are characteristics that are passed down from generation to generation. You certainly can't buy it! That's the old school morals that cant be taught in school either unless you want to hear about it in the headlilnes the next morning , "Teacher and Students Shot by Disgruntled Parent/or Student due to the instruction of learning morals." Film at 11!

Unfortunately I would say that it is most definitely becoming a lost art form!! It seems that as each generation gets older they forget about the important things like manners and being polite to others. Such a shame =( I wonder if it could become a subject that is taught in school?

Yes. I can't be polite to people now, they take advantage of it. They cut in line at the supermarket, they cut in line at the stop light, they never once ask to do it, they just do it.

Trying to be polite to telemarketers on the phone is another thing. My husband will listen to them, it lasts for ten minutes or so and then he will say no thanks.......then "let me have you talk to my wife".........that is when I get on the phone. I know they explained it to me husband, and I know that he wasn't buying it, so why do they need to impress me next??

Also, no means no. I told this woman four times that I didn't want dish network, so I hung up on her.

Being polite means having social graces and understanding other people. Telemarketing is taking it away and making people hang up or shut the door on anyone who comes close to them.

Good question Cent ....

Absolutely, it's been going down-hill for the past 15 or more years. My children's teachers, as well as my friends, would comment on how well mannered my children were/are ... really, they were actually surprised by it.

It seems all teachings, in regards manners, is a thing of the past. You do come across the odd few with manners ... but, unfortunately, it's a rarity now-a-days. :(

BTW: Customer service has been on a steady decline as well.

Good Manners take time and effort. We've been living a fast food life for about 20 years now. I think the loss of manners is a result of the 'have it now' mentality. I think that I'll work on mine.

I'm always polite, but I have noticed that a lot of other people aren't anymore.

Yeah. Most parents don't have the time or patience to teach their children manners.
