you know that there is a concept of death. and maybe you know people that have died. but can YOU yourself die? how can you be sure? you obviousely have not died yet because you are here. but since you have never died you can therefore say that you cannot truly know whether you can die. in fact you can even say that you are immortal and you cannot be disproved.

not ONE person has made a successful argument against this statement. they are all telling me that they know people who died or are telling me that everything comes to an end. however once again you cannot know that YOU died. you cannot compare the experience of other people (which by the way you can never prove the existence of other people) to your experiences.

This statement is not worth arguing. How can u say that u don't know u have died. Since u have not died yet u cannot experience it. The experience of death may be something like something being aware of ones own existence and the things around them but just the inability to change them.
Since u assume that u cannot learn from others experiences and want us to blind ourselves about the death of the people around us u cannot get an answer or an argument unless u face it ur self.

Yes, I know for sure that Death is a real thing.
This happened in my family in 1876 in Apache County, Arizona. An epidemic was going around, children would go to bed feeling ill, much like the flu, achy all over, chills, etc. and by morning they would be dead. At the time they called it St. Vitus Dance.
My ancestors had two children die in two days. On the third day, another child died, who was 12. The mother went out of her mind in grief and ran out into the forest. Her husband chased after her, and the husband's brother prayed to God that the mother be given a sign to help her accept all of her losses.
By the time the father brought his wife home, the 12 year old girl was alive again, sitting up in bed, she was weak but she could talk.
She explained to her mother that she was only there for three days to help her mother get used to losing so many children. The girl explained she did not want to come back because Heaven was so much lovelier than Earth is, but she was instructed to come back to help her mother.
This 12 year old described heaven and she described long dead relatives, many who were dead before she was born, and she was able to describe how they looked, how they laughed, accents, etc.
The mother spent those three days with this daughter and asked about her other dead children and the 12 year old was able to provide detailed information.
On the third day, the 12 year old passed away. While it was still hard on this mother, she was comforted.

A complicated riddle. The body become lifeless after escape of breath and stopping of heart beat. Sometimes doctors say no brain death etc. They try defabrillation (not sure about spelling) and some times patient regain his heart beat and breath. We do not know whether he really died. One thing is certain. From media we decide that no body lives past 130 years or so since there are news about longest surviving individual in the guinness book of record etc. But as per Hindu philosophy Soul has no birth and neither it dies. Only the body and senses become lifeless. Soul is present always, everywhere, ever. That is the only conclusion. I am sure that I will pass away one day as per the law of deterioration.

Will die as sure as death .Let's carry over the Q/A up there when the answer will be obvious .
However ,Kudos to you for bringing forth an excellent insight.
Answering your question, are we talking about physical death only ? And I have quoted myself on this community sight earlier - the day I have no purpose and will to live , I cease to exist. Immortality of this body be damned

You certainly _can_ die, I mean, I would say being human where humans are susceptible to death puts it firmly in the realm of possibility. The question of whether an individual _would_ die in the presence of certain conditions is somewhat unknowable. Therefore I agree... adding to it that The uncanny can and does happen.
Otherwise, this question really depends greatly on the knowledge of what death is, which we have so little of. The presumption that this symbol 'die' accurately represents the condition or state to which it refers is, one, considerably flawed and it follows that if there is but one true state which it represents the vast majority of us will not and can not 'die' simply because our definition of the implied state is flawed.

This idea may be a bit, oh, how shall I put it, Out There. I believe I have lived and died many, many times. Scientific proof of this does not exist yet, but maybe someday. Remember, our system is a closed system. No energy can be gained or lost, it just changes form. Worth thinking about, as well, don't you think?

Well...-they SAY that there's nothing certain but death & taxes... And I can CERTAINLY vouch for the taxes... SO; I figure that eventally I WILL die...-& what happens thereafter may depend on whether there's anything LEFT of me- after the tax man takes his cut. :)

Nothing in the world can exist forever. The most certainty in life is you will die. The most uncertainty in life is how and when you will die.

Depends, how can you be sure the people that suggest everyone is connected by a single soul is wrong.
The concept of "I" could inherently be a childish illusion.

mmmm... i study biology, have my own definition for death, think I am similar to other six billion people on this planet and when something happens as a common thing to most of them, I believe it will happen to me too.
