Is the world getting warmer?

My mum said we are the one getting more and more. The weather is unusual.I think people opening and burning space is blame.(killling the animals) too

The world is getting warmer. Winters are warmer.
We broke the all time low temperature for Easter here in Georgia, freezing fruit trees and plants. Easter was cold like Christmas use to be.

The world is warming up and the reason for this is something called the greenhouse effect. Our planet acts like a gaint greenhouse because it traps heat and warms up. In a greenhouse it's the glass that stops the heat from escaping but with earth it's what we call greenhouses gases. These act like a blanket around the earth and trap heat inside, the more greenhouse gases there are the thicker this blanket becomes.

Lots of people are worried about this and are trying to do something to stop it happening. One of the ways we can help is to reduce the amount of energy we use. When energy is made at power stations and gas is burned in motor vehicles it produces a lot of greenhouse gas so by using less energy and driving less miles we can do something to help the planet.

One thing to remember is that the television and newspaper reports like to be very dramatic and sometimes what they say isn't really whats happening - they tend to exaggerate things.

For hundreds of years people have been recording the weather and we can look at these records and see how hot the world was in the past. By doing this we know that the world is warming up.

We can also make predictions about what will happen in the future. Some of these predictions might not be right but many of them probably will be. One of the predictions is that a quarter of all the different animals on the planet could be killed off because of rising temperatures and other changes in the weather, the scientists think this will happen in the next 50 to 100 years.

Yes it is! The earth goes through natural cycles and getting warmer is one of them. The sun also goes through cycles, as it is now going through a cycle where it puts out more heat. Now add in what humans have added to the atmosphere through gas emissions etc. and you now have a very off balance cycle.
The whole planet is heating up and yes, many animals and humans will suffer and die from it.

Don't confuse weather and climate.

The sun coming out in July is not evidence of global warming, just as a snowstorm in February is not evidence of global cooling.

yes our earth is getting warmer of especially of human activities. that is because may be of global warming , greenhouse effect , and also of ultra vi lot rays entering on the earth because the layer stratosphere is getting holes in it so it is happening. actually stratosphere filters the ultra vi lot rays .
