what are some great themes for a babies nursery?

my older childrens themes were:
under the sea- for a boy and he still has his room decorated like this because he loves it. he is 6
farmyard- for a girl, her room also still has this theme just added more ponies for her, she is 6
jungle- for my 7 month old twins boy/girl

i want something different to these 3 for my twins due in 6 months. My husband is an artist and will paint murals on the walls. Needs to be unisex as we do not know the sex of the babies

Since I cannot have children, I think a lot about babies and children. I feel that the most important thing for a child is to be able to be just that. A magical child. So, my favorite nursery theme would be an inspirational one with a magical atmosphere.
DREAM! CREATE! IMAGINE! WONDER!
One for each wall. Maybe stencil these words and then add dreamlike items such as clouds, fairies, children who can fly, bunnies, butterflies, magical boats, magic carpets, stars, flying pigs, flying dogs, etc. Even nursery rhyme images work here. Another idea is a "Once upon a time" storybook theme. You can use your computer to create wall decorations and even bedding themes with iron-on's.

If you don't know the baby's sex then winnie the pooh and precious moments are a good start. If it's a boy, Blue jean teddy or those little tractor themes are cute. For my girl we started with winnie the pooh because the doctors wasn't 100% sure she would be a girl. Then we went to care bears because they first got her attention. Now that she is almost 4 we have redocorated yet again with disney princess. If you are going to paint the wall, consider a common color that will fit most themes for the sex of the baby, Such as blue or green for the boy and pink or purple for the girl. It helps when you redecorate as they get older to eliminate a little of the work!

You could do a Western baby nursery theme and decorate it for either a cowboy or a cowgirl whichever the case might be.

Some other gender-neutral nursery theme ideas would be:

Teddy bears
Monkeys
Frogs
Panda
Penguins

One of my friend picked baby jungle animals. She painted a mural on one wall and continued the theme in her decorating, colors, and stuffed animals. It was the most beautiful nursery I have ever seen.

Have you considered a ground level theme? Have the dirt layer and show the blades of grass, flowers and trees growing up from this ground and then have little bugs like ants, bumble bees(for the flowers), and other creepy crawlies so they get to see things as the bugs do. That's What I am going to do! You can have it look like your back yard so if it is too cold or too wet, they can still play outside :-) ! Good luck!

We have an Aloha Baby / Hawaii theme by Lambs and Ivy. It's fun and different, we love it for our son. It could be good for a baby girl too because the colors are light blues, greens, and yellow.

I think that since you do not know the sex of the babies that a ocean theme would be nice. Not only is it colorful it is also beautiful. You can incorperate colors for both sexes. Congrats and good luck
