Yes, because everyone would be completely appalled! He has an almost pristine reputation and is known for his vital work. If he said it, it would be a breach of trust, because people trust that he can report the news unbiased.

I'm only appalled by Imus's statement because I didn't think he would go that far. He usually hits people that got it coming to them. These young women did nothing but play ball. However, he shouldn't be fired for it. Freedom of speech.

I think Anderson Cooper has too much class and your question isn't addressing the real issue. EVERY woman in America, white, black, asian, native american, etc., should be utterly disgusted and outraged. Women have worked for years to gain respect and admiration in the work area and to be accepted as serious athletes. Imus' statement is purely borne out of ignorance and bigotry. There's nothing more pathetic than a man who is threatened by a powerful woman. Imus needs to be GONE......finito, over, out. Period. This was NOT just about racial stupidity, it was about hatred and denigration of women. I am a white woman and my heart bleeds for this kind of mentality in this country. Home of the free? Right. Well IF this is the land of the brave, then all women, EVERYWHERE, should protest all major sponsors who support the Imus show. Let's hit them where it hurts - this is all about money. Come on women, we ARE the buying power of the country, let's get a petition going countrywide - IMUS stays, we will NOT buy your product. Period.

Yes, CNN would not tolerate that kind of remark from any of their reporters/anchors. With respect to Anderson Cooper it is inconceivable that he would ever think let alone say anything as dumb as what came out of Don Imus's mouth. The man deserves to be fired.

No, because Anderson Cooper is a very wealthy man from one of the elite, prominent families, in New York City family.
