There is NO WAY you'll find ME swimming in the OCEAN after those "JAWS" movies!!!! ....and I've SEEN them ALL!!!!

I watched Jaws at the movie theater in 1975 when it first came out. After the movie, my cousins and I started reading everything we could find about sharks. I was even inspired to read the Peter Benchley novel. The movie was better.
I completely avoided the ocean on almost every Gulf Coast trip for the next couple of summers. Seeing the cheesey sequels helped me get over my fears, though.
Ultimately, I would see Jaws III in the 1980's, while in college... it was shown in 3-D and we had to wear those weird cardboard goggles to see the movie 3-D. All
I remember is the shark blowing up at the end of the movie and how cool it was to see blood, fins, and jaw bones coming at me right out of the screen.
Those cheesey sequels cured whatever initial "life change" I had originally experienced with the first movie.
Nowadays, I go and thoroughly enjoy the ocean every chance I get. I go way far out and watch the pelicans diving for fish. Life is too short to be paralyzed by fear.

The first one came out when I was a kid. I lived in Pensacola, Fl. All though I didn't get to see the movie, I saw enough ads about it that those scared me. I would go in now but not then.

All we have in my neck of the woods is a super tiny beach (actually I think it's a farmers pond) and I was still afraid to go into the water!

yes it did, the beach is cool, but there is no way in hell i am going out in to the water, unless i have a big boat, lots of explosives, and maybe one or two tanks of napalm!
