Somebody is going to inherit the biggest debt in history and somebody is going to have to pay for it, I am sure that taxes will have to go up in the future no matter who is elected. I like him too, I just got done watching Letterman interview him, seen him on 60 minutes, and one of the Sunday shows. Dude has a good head, got lots of heart, and seems to be in touch with reality. I am not totally sold on him as yet but I do like what I see so far. .

Our taxes will skyrocket if he wins. While I think he's the type of guy who would be nice to be a friend, I don't think he's fit to be president.

His views are 100% the same as Hillary Clinton. They were both mentored by the same Communist nutcase. This feud between Obama and Hillary is a charade so as to make the Democrat nomination look legitimate. When its all said and done, the Dems will nominate Clinton-Obama and they'll win unless the Republicans have the good sense to nominate the only Republican who opposes Bush's wars and his anti-freedom laws (Patriot and Military Commissions Acts), Ron Paul. I'm going to vote for Dr. Paul (TX-14) because he's the only candidate who opposes not just Bush's violations of the Constitution, but all the other Constitutional violations of past regimes.

The rate of taxation is the rate of government spending. Government spending increases whenever you elect a big government politician. If you think that you pay too much, not too little in taxes, voting for any big government politician is a waste of a vote. Unfortunately, outside of Ron Paul and a few others, you can't find any candidate who will follow their oath of office in either of the big parties.

Please think about the good of the country instead of about yourself. The country should tax people enough to pay for the things the people want it to do. Not doing so irresponsibly shifts the tax burden to the future (with interest) and puts the US at a weaker position internationally. Some recent presidents have tried to have the government do too many expensive things while not taxing enough to pay for them. Check out the five largest budget deficits in US history

1. 2004 (George W. Bush) $413 billion
2. 2003 (George W. Bush) $378 billion
3. 2005 (George W. Bush) $318 billion
4. 2006 (George W. Bush) $296 billion (projected)
5. 1992 (George H. W. Bush) $290 billion

What do you think of the things Obama wants the government to do? Do you think they will be a good use of your money? If so vote for him. If not vote for someone else.

When researching a candidate I like to go to ProjectVoteSmart.org.
You will find speech's, policy positions, voting record, and a biography of every candidate.
I was a little upset to see that Sen. Obama has not filled out the National Political Awareness Test, that Vote Smart asks of every candidate.
It a questionnaire that gives a fair insight to views on policy, every candidate is asked to do it, state and national, but many don't comply, it is not mandatory.

I am a Conservative, I have read his book and examined his views. He is a "closet" liberal with moderate to extreme social progressive leanings. His advocacy of public education and dismissal of the critics demonstrates selective blindness. His "separatist" religious beliefs demonstrate an unwillingness to embrace social integration.

So no I don't think Obama will get elected, he has too many polarizing positions.

I'd support him. I think it's inevitable that whoever becomes president will have to hike our taxes up a bit to pay down the deficit, especially if we have a homeland security issue or another overseas skirmish to fight. Simply, we don't have the money! Our spending is in the red. It will take a person with guts to help clean up the mess, and we will all have to make sacrifices. It will be a cross the board increase, with the exception of lower middle class. I don't care who the leader is. Stay tuned. But, yeah, Obama has an appeal that I could support.

The next president, whoever he is, will inherit a huge debt, and the mess in Iraq. Cleaning that up will result in raising taxes, I don't care what anyone says. Obama would have to deal with reality and not introduce a bunch of new programs, at least for the first term. If he was re-elected for a second term, then maybe he could do something with his "vision."

Maybe I just don't make enough money for it to really show--but I have never noticed a tax increase or decrease that led to any easier or tougher times for me to feed and clothe myself and my family.

And why would Obama's being elected President necessitate higher taxes? Has he said that? I think you have fallen prey to the "this party does____" and "that party does ___" syndrome on Yahoo!Answers.

Read what the man has to say about his plans if he is elected. Do your homework. And if you still "like" him, by all means vote for him! He DOES seem to be the most intelligent of the candidates at this point; and, I agree, I like a lot of what he says. I'm biding my time, as 2008 is still a long way off.

In my opinion Sen Obama is the JFK of our generation...hopefully his fate will not be the same obviously...but have you paid attention to the amount of deficit that has been created by the current administration?
The taxes will hopefully skyrocket for the minuscule wealthy group of people and become realistic or at least have our taxed dollars go towards something worthwhile, and uh, legal.

I disagree with his social health care issue. For example in England (I lived there for a year), it takes some women up to a year to get their results from their mammograms back. In a year, cancer will totally destroy a woman's life so many just decide to have a double masectomies (sp?) to be safe. Can you imagine having that surgery and finding out the lump was just a benign tumor??? Waiting lines in hospitals and doctors offices are horrible and many minor illnesses become major ones if not looked after. If a 1st world country like England has these problems, just imagine the problems we would have.

Other than that, he seems like a very smart man however he has no experience. If he became govenor for a couple of years, I'd vote for him. I think no experience will be his downfall because we can't just throw in an unprepared man to be the nation's leader.
